Community Guidelines
Our goal
CohortHive works when neighbors respect each other, stay safe, and use the platform for honest local help. These guidelines apply to everyone.
You must be at least 18 years old to use CohortHive. By using the platform you confirm you meet this requirement.
Do
- Be clear about what you need or what you offer (time, location, price).
- Be on time or communicate early if plans change.
- Meet in safe places when meeting strangers (public spots when possible).
- Follow local laws (permits, age restrictions, safety rules).
- Report problems through app support channels when available.
Don't
- Harassment, hate, discrimination based on race, religion, gender, nationality, disability, or other protected traits.
- Fraud, scams, or fake listings.
- Illegal services or anything that puts people at unreasonable risk.
- Spam or manipulating listings/reviews.
- Sharing someone else's private information without permission.
Tasks that may be restricted or removed
Examples (not exhaustive): anything illegal; unsafe work without proper skills; adult services where prohibited; weapons; evasion of platform fees if we introduce them.
Enforcement
In the CohortHive community, courtesy and professional distance are expected. Users who repeatedly receive negative feedback or disrupt the experience of others may face warnings, restrictions, or loss of access to protect the rest of the community. Please treat every interaction as if you're speaking to a real neighbor on your street.
We may remove content, warn, suspend, or terminate accounts for violations of these guidelines or our Terms. Serious or repeated violations may result in permanent removal. We may cooperate with law enforcement when required.
Good Neighbor Policy
CohortHive is not just a marketplace — it's your neighborhood. We expect everyone to approach one another in good faith: with empathy and respect, the way you'd want to be treated on your own block.
People have bad days. Small misunderstandings happen. Where it's reasonable, we hope you'll choose patience and a conversation before assuming the worst. That spirit doesn't replace our safety rules or the law; it means we build trust the way neighbors do — face to face when possible, and with care online.
What our badges mean
Badges are trust signals, not a guarantee from CohortHive about any person's conduct. They help you see how someone has used the platform and completed verification steps.
- Blue Badge (Verified Contact): Phone number verified — you've confirmed a real number tied to your account.
- Green Badge (Verified Identity): Identity checked by an independent third-party verification provider (not by CohortHive staff). Successful verification means the provider matched you to a government ID using their process.
- Gold Badge (Legend Neighbor): Reflects a strong track record on the platform — high average rating from other neighbors and a substantial number of completed jobs. Exact thresholds are shown in the app and may be updated over time.
Location, address & approximate distance
You choose how much address detail to share on a listing. You do not need to publish a full street address or door number to post a task. Many neighbors prefer to list only a neighborhood, area, or cross-streets so others can see they're nearby without pinpointing their home.
Listings may show an approximate distance (for example, “about 1.2 km away”) so both sides can judge whether the job is realistically local and price it fairly — without exposing exact coordinates to everyone who browses.
After you assign someone, we recommend sharing a precise meeting address or directions through in-app chat once you're comfortable. Some neighbors share earlier or in another way; that's their choice. We don't police every message, but coordinating through the app keeps a clearer record if something goes wrong.
When you don't get along
If you simply don't want to deal with someone, use block or similar controls in the app so you don't match again. CohortHive is not a court and doesn't resolve private legal disputes between neighbors.
For serious harm, theft, threats, or crimes, use the proper authorities and legal channels where you live. See our Terms of Service for how we handle reports supported by documentation.
Platform communication (in-app)
Coordinate tasks using CohortHive's built-in messaging. We do not display your phone number to other users for this purpose, and you must not share phone numbers or other contact details in chat to move conversations off the app. This protects privacy, safety, and clear records if something goes wrong.
Security, fee & privacy
Green Badge (verified identity) uses trusted third-party providers. You pay one verification fee; the provider keeps a portion for their service, and the remainder supports CohortHive — product development, security, and infrastructure. Exact fees and splits are shown before you pay and may vary by partner or region.
Premium boost (visibility): Posting a boosted task includes a separate small fee ($4/boost) for extra visibility — not for holding or releasing job payments between neighbors. Pro membership is $8/month and includes 5 boosts at $3 each per billing cycle.
Data guarantee: Your ID documents are NEVER stored on our servers. They are processed through bank-level encrypted systems and instantly wiped once verification is complete.
