Legal notice: This document is a draft and will be finalized with attorney review before the app launches on Google Play.

1. Who we are

CohortHive ("we", "us", "our") is a peer-to-peer local-task platform.
Contact: CohortHive support

2. What this app does

CohortHive helps neighbors connect to offer and request local tasks (e.g. errands, home help, deliveries). We provide a marketplace-style listing service. We are not a party to agreements between users for tasks or payments, unless we say otherwise in a future feature.

3. Information we collect

We may collect:

  • Account: Name, email, phone (if you provide them), profile photo, city/region
  • You post: Task titles, descriptions, photos, price, category, timing
  • Device / technical: Device type, OS, app version, crash logs (if enabled), approximate location if you allow it
  • Usage: In-app actions needed to run the service (e.g. favorites, job views) — as implemented

Location & how listings appear: You choose how specific a location is when you post a task (for example neighborhood or area — a full street address is not required). The app may use coordinates you confirm through address search or map selection to show other users an approximate distance so they can see jobs near them without you having to publish your door number on the listing. You may share a precise meeting place through in-app messaging when you are comfortable, including after you assign a task. See our Community Guidelines for recommendations.

Phone number (in-app display): We may show a masked number in your profile (leading digits + hidden middle + last three digits) so you can recognize your number without exposing the full string on screen.

Phone number (policy): We use your phone for account security and sign-in verification only. We do not sell your personal information and do not share it with third-party organizations (including charities) for marketing. Optional future features that share limited data with a nonprofit will be described and consented in the product where required by law.

We do not intend to sell your personal information.

4. How we use information

  • Operate, secure, and improve the app
  • Show relevant listings and (if enabled) notifications
  • Prevent fraud and abuse; enforce our Terms and Community Guidelines
  • Comply with law and respond to valid legal requests

5. Sharing

We may share information with:

  • Service providers (e.g. hosting, analytics, crash reporting, auth) under contracts that limit use
  • Authorities when required by law or to protect safety
  • Business transfers if the service is merged or sold (users will be notified as required)

We do not share data for unrelated third-party marketing unless you opt in where required by law.

6. Payments

If we add in-app purchases (e.g. premium listings, subscriptions), payment processing may be handled by Google Play or other providers. Their privacy policies also apply to payment data they process.

Green Badge identity verification is an optional paid feature ($15 per attempt). Part of that fee is paid to independent verification providers, and the remaining part supports product, security, and infrastructure operations. See Terms of Service for canonical fee terms.

7. Retention

We keep information as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations. You may request deletion of your account by contacting CohortHive support, subject to legal exceptions.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures. No method is 100% secure.

9. Children and minimum age

The Service is intended for users who are at least 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will terminate the account and delete associated data. The Service is also not directed at children under 13 (or 16 where applicable under COPPA or equivalent local law).

10. International users

If you use the app from outside the country where we operate, you understand data may be processed in a different jurisdiction. If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, additional rights may apply under GDPR; contact us for details.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal data, or to opt out of certain processing. Contact CohortHive support. We will respond as required by law.

12. Changes

We may update this policy. We will post the new version and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy, unless the law requires a different process.
